Recognize God's Mercy, but now - LET'S DO THE WORK!

Praise God for His mercy and grace upon America this election season. We need to recognize that we have been blessed by the Almighty. He has given us more time to enjoy our freedoms. While our hope rests in the Lord always – we do thank Him for allowing us to enjoy our freedoms in our country into the near future – freedom to worship, freedom to assemble peaceably, freedom of speech, and the right to bear arms.

BUT NOW…

LET"S DO THE WORK! With these freedoms come responsibilities. We have asked God to give us the outcome we have received – but that same merciful God has a will for our lives that involves loving Him and serving Him faithfully. If those who proclaim to be “born again” believers in this nation do not use these liberties we have been afforded to live for God and instead continue to use them for license to selfishness, greed, and pride – then this nation is doomed for we have already tested God’s patience.

If the Lord tarries his coming – we certainly hope for a nation that still allows these freedoms for our children and grandchildren. The work ahead is to bring people to Christ because that is what is going to win the future. Winning elections is great, but man's heart is dark and he cannot vote right without the light of the Gospel. As we go forward, this nation will only get darker if people vote selfishly and for fleshly pursuits and appetites rather than for right.

Winning in the future is going take the believers of this nation who live transformed lives. Believers that:

humble themselves
quit walking in pride or rage
stop being scorners like the world
abstain from what God calls sin
live as godly examples of faithfulness
walk with God daily in prayer and Bible reading/study
faithful attend church services
speak the truth in love and stand for what is right
support their local church financially while sending the Gospel around the world
etc.

Let’s be sure to follow His admonition in 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

I believe we have seen God's mercy by giving us more time – but may we not waste it, but use it to live for God, live holy and honorably before Him and win this generation to Christ. We can take joy today in the outcome of the election – but LET'S DO THE WORK! – to truly walk with God and live for Him and touch lives around us with the Gospel.

ADVERSITIES & CHURCH

After my devotions each morning I try to work on my memory verses. Today, in succession, two verses came up that relate a great and important truth that a spoke to me. The two verses were: Psalm 122:1 I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD. & Proverbs 24:10 If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small. Adversity, in a simplified definition, means "trouble." Certainly no one looks for trouble. Sickness, accidents, mishaps, and the resulting distress happen in everyone's lives and are often unforeseen. They can at times be daunting. God teaches us not to faint in the face of adversity; not to stop doing what we are supposed to and performing our vows and service to God, family, and community. I think that we have expanded our definition of adversity in our generation to include words like "tiredness" and even "opportunity." BE BOLD FOR THE TRUTH! - Like John the Baptist

Don’t back off what you know to be true. The Bible is real, it is God's Word to man. We need to hold to what it says with conviction. John the Baptist did. It landed him in prison - just that one statement – “It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife.” (Mark 6:18) But, he didn’t sway from it, he did not apologize for it! He stuck with the truth. THE GREATEST NEED IN 2024!

Often, I hear complaints about what is going on in the world today and in churches. People have become disillusioned with society and even with church. They are mad at their government, upset with society with its wicked pop-culture, critical of churches, and always blame someone else for whatever woes have come there way. We blame politicians for their corruption, the government for deceiving us, the schools for brainwashing the children, the church for not being exciting enough or having enough ministries and the pastor for not being deep enough/hard enough/soft enough/or inspiring enough or whatever criticism we have. Then everyone seems to have a “disease,” a trauma, or a disability, giving themselves an excuse for what they do or why they allow sin in their own life. As bad as all these things are, they are going to continue. The world will still be wicked and hate God as the Bible says. When the world speaks well of the church – woe to that church or preacher (Luke 6:26).
